Pete, These are the Rules: "Please note: The forum is moderated - any rudeness, blatant advertising, or postings of an adult nature will be removed. For international foot health matters please visit www.podiatry-arena.com "A certain amount of licence is obvious between people who know each other and have been regular posters for a long time. I would advise all new posters on any forum to do exactly the same as they would in a room full of people they don't know - go carefully at first and don't antagonise anyone. For a relatively new member, posting an inflammatory thread with the title Appalling attitudes on this forum and saying that we are a Vigilante Group on another thread is a bad way to begin if you want to join in meaningful discussions.

Hi pete Is that just under this anon or any of the others you use ?? As Martin says Trolls cannot keep up the pretense and you really must learn to separate you "argument" when posting on more that one thread using 2 or more Anons If you don't want to be ridiculed and make a constructive discussion on "your point of view" then listen to what has been said to you by the moderators . Or do what you said you were going to do LEAVE THE FORUM Everyone has an off button pete shame we cant get one for you Cheers Derek

Oh dear DTT, You do seem to have a problem about posters who might have more than one alias? It's not illegal as far as I know. Going back to the discussion here. I would be interested in seeing these unwritten rules, but I think I guessed them in one of my posts to you where I said I would be happy to debate with you without your own brand of censorship. This prompted an avalanche of abuse from you. I have made perfectly polite posts which have been jumped on by you because you think I am someone else. So much for forum rules. regards ipod

Hi ipod Wondered how long it would be before you came back to fly the flag,it's like you've never been away really I know the regular posters on this site have the guts and conviction of their argument to put their name to their posts Perhaps you should give it a go and get some respect ? But I expect you would rather hide behind all your aliases and continue your trollish behavior Sad innit Cheers D

"I know the regular posters on this site have the guts and conviction of their argument to put their name to their posts "
That may be so, but a new poster called Pete posted under their own name and got a load of abuse because their ideas were different. Not the way to encourage new posters who might be reading this ? regards ipod

ipod I said and you have come back with And his full name is "10 feet Pete" is it ?? Go away ipod and whatever fanciful other names you want to call yourself next time, you really are becoming boring with the nonsense you post. You really must have no work ( perhaps the FHP's have got it ) to spend so much time here in your attempts to disrupt the forum D

Del makes a point. Posting under an alias is one thing. Posting under more than one identity on the same site is somewhat disrespectful IMO. Ipod you will forgive del if he is confused as to your identity. Perhaps if your identity remained the same we would not have that difficulty. That i know of you have in one post said And in another . I for one have no time for such games The unwritten rules which several have alluded to are simply the standard mores of common courtesy. Davids analogy of a room full of people you don't know was a good one. One would not, for example, turn up at a society brance meeting for the first time, refuse to tell the others their your name, then start badmouthing the branch and the individuals within it and tell them they are doing it all wrong. This sort of thing tends to provoke a response in kind (much as it would in real life) and unfortunatly people do remember previous insults. That does somewhat colour ones view of future comments made by that person. As Pete observed this method of communication lacks a good deal in that one cannot always interpret tone and inference correctly. However that, and the fragmented nature of the discussions does not alter the fact that as in life, we are judged by what we say. It behooves us then to be particularly careful and respectful, especially if we have not yet earned the respect of those in the peer group. Derek has since the inception of this site contributed freely of his knowledge, expertise and experiance. Anyone who knows him knows that any honest request for help, advice or discussion will be met in kind. However we also know he has little tolerance for those who would be disrespectful and / or rude to those members of the forum who honestly seek help. These are not so much "unwritten rules" (not any more anyway ) as everyday common or garden variety respect. The anonymity of the context does not mean that these standards can be ignored! Respectfully Robert

Hello Robert. Your anaolgy of a room full of people is not accurate. In that scenario I would be quite visible as would every subtle nuance I created.
I fail to see why my gender is an issue. I thought this was a discussion forum not a dating agency?
I don't actually recall being rude to anyone, but I do remember being flamed by DDT. It seeems to me there is one rule for the "in-crowd" and one for others.
It is a pity if this site cannot take a bit of constructive criticism. regards ipod

Derek
Your claims that ipod has several aliases is way off course. You made a claim that should you wish to do so, you could trace the ISP server for each poster, especially for cases of breach of copyright! I suggest that you perhaps put your technology into practise and see for yourself that ipod is ipod and only ipod. Much as I would like to take credit for some of the other postings, my honesty forbids me. Of course, those of you who thought you knew everyone by their stly of writing anf their syntax have obviously lost the plot too.
As for rudeness- I have not been rude- Derek, I am afraid that I cannot say the same for you, and in fact David, you have come very near the mark as well!
Lets look at chirofpod- their profile claim an age of 22 years- yet their posts lay claim to many years experience in the field! I havent heard you call this poster a troll!
See guys, its all about double standards and not being able to manipulate everyone to suit yourselves. Anyone who disagrees is called a troll and given a hard time by you Derek. Really, the obsession is becoming very worrying.
Take heart from the thread on silver nitrate though- after much debate and fast and furious argument, what was the conclusion? That you all know absolutely nothing more than the rest of us on the coal face, so even though it is a good opportunity for cutting and pasting , it has made no difference to the treatments you offer.
I should rethink your statements Del, and back them up with firm evidence.

ipod ok let me start with the empiricism of history Many years ago I had a forum bust up (bigger than you can ever imagine ipod) with a guy NAMED Mark Russell on Podiatry Arena which lasted many weeks all about the SMAE trained Chiropodist and " how we were not up to the job". C P ( Craig Payne moderator and owner of the site and a d**ned fine chap to boot) ( just in case you don't know who that is ) warned us and threatened to ban us many times during the DEBATE BUT We agreed to differ in our opinions as to the ( then ) situation. Harsh words were spoken on both sides and I still remember them now BUT Having never met Mark (but spoken to him on the phone and email), I have the deepest respect and admiration for him BECAUSE He said what he believed in was right at the time, he stood up with his name to be counted. If I met Mark even now I would buy him a pint out of RESPECT On the other hand ipod you, with your slimy, gutless ways ( along with your other aliases and other Trolls BTW), frankly I wouldn't piss on you ( or the others) if you were on fire !! Do you see the difference Stupid Get a life ipod and please talk to Mark ( if he would ever waste his time with a gutless bigot such as yourself ( read Trolls) and LEARN from him Have a rational debate not this nonsense Cheers D

Appalling attitudes = appalling behaviour..........when the children start behaving badly the behavior is ignored and the good behavior is praised (thanks Supernanny). Please do not spoil a good discussion (sal acid) with bad behaviour (and don't start on me for having a pseudonym it's a nickname my children gave me ). Please let's get back to what this forum does best and help/advise and discuss relevant podiatry/footcare topics with a hint of non aggressive humour along the way. It doesn't matter if we agree on a point but as the rules say 'don't be rude' which I take in my humble opinion includes personal swipes. Podmum
