Hi All, thought I'd share this patient with you. She is a lady in her hearly 50's who, 15 years ago, suffered from an attack of Necrotising fasciitis affecting the foot. She was sent to me by one of the ortho's asking if I could make insoles. Apparently she has seen a couple of Pods previously but not had anything made for her that she liked. She has adequate ankle ROM but the foot is completely immobile. I found it quite fascinating so thought I'd share it.. I think she was amazingly lucky to get off this "lightly" and the doctor she saw at the time of the episode must've been pretty switched on. These are a couple of photos of her foot and the insole (cast from impression box, 5mm High density (350) EVA, 5mm Lunarsoft, 3mm PPT, then covered with black calf skin leather) I made for her. All posted with her permission. Happily, She thought the insole I made her was the best thing ever. Regards, Sam

Ah Haaa! Do I detect the influence of the Isaaac's soft and squishy technology.
Interesting case, does that orthosis fill the shoe gap as well and does it extend under the met heads? difficult to tell from the photos.

Hi Dave,
'Sfunny.. just had an email from rob complimenting me on my insole design!
But it isn't as soft and squidgy as it looks. The EVA is very rigid and the Lunarsoft is too for lunarsoft (to be honest, i'm not entirely sure that it even is lunar soft.. it might be low desnity EVA. I found it in at the back of a cupboard and it has the same colour and similar properties to lunar soft I used in the UK).
To answer your question, it does on both accounts.. the patient found that her foot was sliding laterally in the shoe (or the shoe was moving medially on her foot..) so wanted something that stopped alot of that movement, thus I left the insole slightly bulky (width wise) to fill some shoe space up. Also the met heads were one of the most painful points so I extended the device to the sulchus. I left the area under the toes free.
Regards,
Sam

Sam
I've had similar experiences with pizza after returning from a night out and having the munchies.
I found it lurking in the back of the cupboard, It had the same colour and similar properties to a four seasons with extra cheese so I eat it.
