Now sterilisation - can anyone point me to any research that can show the relative state of decontamination or bio load at the point of use in the podiatry environment and how this relates to pathological cross contamination rates and what the seriousness of that cross contamination was. EG how many more people get sick because the clinician used a Prestige 2000 in stead of a full V12 S type sports vacuum machine with printer, prion free water and a big shelf.
Coz I've looked and can't find that study.

Neither me.
But if you speak to the good people at little sister, prestige etc etc i'm sure they'd finance it for you if you fancied it!

Dear All,
Thank you for your input. Excel Healthcare Ltd do a rental on the Enigma which includes the v. expensive servicing, which I might go for. Means I can try it out before I decide whether it suits my needs. All comments were gratefully received.

In October my aged SES 2000 ceased to work. Did some homework and replaced it with the Enigma 12L vacuum.
For the info of anyone else looking at machines: I am pleased with the machine. If you go directly to the company they offer interest free installments over 2 years Do not need to agree to servicing contract if you do not wish to do so

Hi Dawn Thanks for the info, just one point That's fine, but they do require servicing twice a year and validating by a qualified engineer ?? How would you propose to overcome that if you don't take on the service contract ?? I know the Prestige Vacuum I have is coming toward the end of the lease period and I have a option to Buy . I spoke to an engineer to see if I could come to an arrangement with them = DEFINITE NO because they are legally responsible for the correct operation if the machine and would need insurance cover if they went outside the company I'm sure there are servicing companies that would do it but would their charges differ greatly from the supplier ?? cheers Derek

Dear DTT Sorry for the delayed reply, have not been on the site for a while. I have always used the same autoclave engineer - reliable and does not charge stupid fees. He can service all types of machine.
Best wishes, D
