For the last 5 weeks I have been conducting a research project on orthoses and rhythm. I have taken 1 random character, me, (n=1) and subjected him to several hours of Salsa training. Method involved repeatedly counting steps 1-8 (meant to be quiet but was actually quite loud in my case). To toss in a variable the steps were 123 ..567..., making for a silent 4 and 8. Other variables included multiple dancing partners ( including at one point the male dance lead and myself- very interesting!! know what you ladies see in a good male lead now!!! ;D- ) of varied heights, some of whom were convinced that their masculine side should come out and take the lead away from me. Conclusion: Orthoses do not give to the wearers any sense of rhythm or enhance any rhythm that may even exist. It was further observed that despite all proprioceptive and exoceptive (dam, always spell this wrong) feedback the subject continued to remain like an ironing board whose hips shook with trembling but not in time to the music Further research is needed to compare OTC with custom and both these with proprioceptive insoles..... Of course if Twirly or Blinda want to show the moves on the January date...!!! Ian

However, I would follow the next two hints: 1) steel toe caps. 2) refrain from any dancin type activity which may include me, I'll bring the Salsa you bring the tortilla chips. ;D Result = we get fed n no tootsies damaged Bel over to you sweety.

Hi Ian I think Tim has already volunteered for that one in an earlier post ! ;D According to him he is very extrovert on the dance floor which is something we are all waiting to see with baited breath !! ;D ;D But if you want to do a formation set then Robert and I will bring the camera's and record the event and even judge it. The results will obviously be posted here . Cheers Derek

By the way, I have a recurring medial proximal crural pain that I think is due to hyperpronation (my knee clicks as well when I come off the Homeopathic drugs). I keep it at bay with AOL's (sorry to mention them) and by sticking the odd needle with assorted substances into it but I know it would benefit from an experts view. I have Sportsmotion video movement analysis on my laptop and can bring a power treadmill from my Bham Clinic if required. Hope you can help.

Dear worried of Tamworth Tim is bringing his pressure plate and giving "a talk / demo" on the system. Perhaps you would like to be the "model" ? ;D I am sure Tim can advise you on suitable apparel etc should you so desire ;D ( try and resist the sequined dress and stilettos) !! Cheers D "alias Bored of Beddington"

Are any of those coming then?
Personally i'm going to be as much use as chocolate screws with all this E quipe ment. I'll just poke it with a stick and make caveman type grunts from time to time. Does it have pretty lights?
