I would agree with Bill, each poster should post under their own name (nicknames etc can be added/appended if desired). This would make each individual accountable and help to keep the forum civil. There are already fora which provide the possibility of anonymous debate - so this does not need to be provided here too.
An area for those engaging in research and clinical audit may be a useful addition

I applaud your idea of "keeping the forum civil", Dawn . However, I cannot see than insisting on posters being transparent will help this. There is a regular poster on this board who uses their own name and has, on more than one occasion, been anything but civil.

Hi All, I would change shorten the name to just UK Podiatry Forum Regards Bryan Hi Bryan, Difficult one. I agree that the Davidmhol part needs to be dropped, but I can't see how to do this without deleting the whole forum. I think the new management may eventually start a new forum and keep this one as archival material. Cheers, Davidh (prev management).

Howdy tall dark stranger, pull up a chair and have some sippin liquor. "new management" is working on it. Got me an idea which work. I got some ideas based on feedback here, from people in the "real world" and from TFS. As always one can't please all people all the time. Had a remarkably shiny pearl of wisdom from "papa troll" which was that people often don't KNOW what they want. You just have to offer something and then listen to how loud the screams are. When I get chance, I'll be redoing the layout, change the admittedly grotesque colours and set some new rules and boundries. We'll see if this horse still has legs. THanks for all the input guys! Robert

Rob, I agree with Bryan - drop the Ortho-Ped bit from the title. I also agree with David, and think the actual URL should be changed - it needs to be relevant to the actual webpage. So something like ukpodiatryforum.proboards.com (assuming when you begin your new forum you decide to stick with proboards as your forum host) There are many free forum hosts online, and it may be worth doing a bit of research regarding which one offers what with respect to functionality for the users With respect to the forum structure I honestly believe less is more. A simple layout with not too many sub-forums at first (while it grows). Otherwise conversations get lost in the maze. I actually regularly view a contractors forum (has some good tips on tax returns etc ) and it is fantastically simple - only 5 main 'rooms'. Take a look to see what I mean: forums.contractoruk.com/The next job is to actually get posters coming onto the forum and posting. This will be directly linked to people being able to find it (web address/URL will help this) and the actual quality of the content. I would echo someone elses previous comments regarding politics etc - I think keeping the forum purely clinical would be a mistake. Whilst TFS has its flaws, dont under-estimate how much people love posting in (or just reading) those kind of threads - and as long as it was sensibly 'moderated' I think would be a good thing. Best of luck pal Ian
